sleep is my superpower!

charged with all the antidotes, 

my nocturnal admission at 3:33 

ante meridiem lacuna

probably heard this on a TED talk.

exiled when the cold moon is full,

I can be wrong but when I am

I do it with style...falling back into the arms

of Morpheus. I woke to a sleep demon again at 4:44.

stuck in sleep paralysis, we have become disconnected 

from the natural world...run to the rescue with love, 

words from some modern-day Dionysus

without a thyrsos peace follows...

once I have forgotten it, once it has faded, 

where did that memory go? brain atlas 

maps brain cells like the periodic table. 

humans are at a fork in the road.

filed away with my secret manipulation,

find the forces that are deciding the future.

our species has been here before, 

even way before the biblical 

when survival depended on the ten trees.

in this grove, in the new year of the trees

when Nyx gave birth to Hypnos,

I cried, ‘it can never be dark enough’. 

nine lords of the night, cut and prune.

excited for second sleep, pondering dreams, 

lucid sleep saved me from the grief!

now, time does not exist for me.

I come and go as I please. nap. siesta.

no longer distracted by death, 

in this fog of chaos what will we do?

baby talk trivia exiled to your room.

“america’s tumultuous past has been worse”,

does not make me feel better.

do you want my opinion? yeah, they are terrified.

schools should eliminate active shooter drills.  

static sound. ocean waves. calm app dims the blue.

truth on the dark side of the hue, 

but my cool twilight blues know better

living in the rhythm of my body clock.

focus. there is a pearl of nihilistic wisdom that comes

staring down the apocalypse, now sleep first sleep.
