promise in the falling

promise in the falling

There is in all visible things...a hidden wholeness. ~Merton

moments in the heart of reality

focus on the promise of falling,

emphasis on the turning.

leaves yellow on green gone and begin piling

as if motioning for strength in numbers,

wind blows reminding us earth is revolving

away from stars falling in loneliness,

taste grace in the gift of opposites.

deep down amid all this falling

grieving beauty going to ground,

praise the paradoxical dance in plain site,

every new atom a jewel towards divinity

masked by our humanity,

focus on the promise of the falling.

observe the great truth of hidden wholeness,

breathe in, breathe out this mysterious unity.

focus on the promise of the falling

silently and lavishly seeding new life

in the dying glories of autumn.

orchards and orchards

caught in heavenly hands

look! it is in all of them...

darkness and light, diminishment and beauty

death and life are always being sown

in opposites that do not negate but co-create

in the promise of the falling.

observer...stop observing
