open a vein
open a vein
it takes just a little prick to open a vein,
a rose from dragon blood leaves no stain,
sharing words of oneness and pain.
i give you a book on the block of discord,
revealing light and shadow on sword,
mirror, mirror a divine reflection of accord.
a moonlight kiss on a night like this,
melting, melting, melting into bliss.
the facade covered mosaics trencadis glaze,
a house of bones with scales like a maze,
radiating like the sun, in god’s architect we exalt,
rising like nave under a hyperboloid vault,
tunnelling under boring below in assault.
grand basilica, gothic body bleeding hopes,
years and years, time crumbles all magnum opus,
your face an oblique, as you wrap me in your columns.
arm in arm on la rambla, where the buildings are alive-
bleeding, feeling, breathing structures that thrive,
bathed in light, lamplit with caduceus of mercury.
gaudi winding wooden door, swallows me whole,
fingers trace edges, mirrors trees, branches, vienna roll,
touching, feeling spaces have a heart and a soul.
flowing arteries bringing life to witness history,
pulse slipping away from the open vein like wild,
ironmonger heavy gate invites with sinister smile,
on the never ending street where buildings bleed.
