firefly
firefly, firefly
i am the girl at the bonfire,
chasing fireflies.
i am the girl at the fireworks,
catching fireflies.
i am the girl during a lightning storm,
watching fireflies.
while the bonfire crackled and popped,
the fireflies flickered back, the girl finds.
when the fireworks exploded and boomed,
the fireflies lit up in sync, in the girl’s mind.
as the lightning storm thundered and blowed,
the fireflies and the girl responded in kind.
the firefly dances to nature’s rhythm and beat.
sometimes gathered together like torchlight in the heat.
firefly, firefly!
as the little girl dances to the rhythm of the show,
the fireflies, to the sound of croaking tree frogs, blink and glow.
firefly, firefly!
never around when the moon is blazing bright.
the cold enchanting light, writing love letters in the night.
