Exploding Trees

Exploding Trees

flambeau...

exploding trees!

your ignorance is the crime.

old-growth redwoods survive

in coexistence with ancient fire,

forests expand, trees thrive

lightning and snow ash.

knowledge is duty

lost on a leader of federal lands

lacking in care of creation.

naked as helion...

it is humans that can’t breathe!

toxic rain–

unnerving carbon sink,

trees choke on too much CO2.

tree ring trade-off

between growth and lifespan,

swarths! huge pitch destroyed yearly,

dying younger, shortlived, deserts expanding

and where are the virus miracles?

monkey no climbs in the sandbox,

eucalyptus dynamite,

cold frozen sap and lightning

–exploding trees.

big oil knows zombie fires in Alaska,

charred wetlands of Pantanal,

acres and hectares

America ablaze, America underwater,

planting will not save our species.

and why should trees save us?
