The iconic sign came down by noon

on the last day of 2020. The last moon

shines midday on ocean beach waves,

history! The Cliff House is history.

It is the end of an era...closure after closure,

the pandemic has decimated the restaurant industry.

They say permanent, I say take care of treasures.

Family, friends, strangers met, and party measured,

marked dates of remembrance...in the camera obscura

surfs up and whales greeted us where San Francisco begins

with the lions that marked Lobos point. Hiked lands end

to the perfect view with a few favorites from the menu,

Cliff House! Cliff House that survived so many times,

including fire on Christmas Day long ago,

after 157 years are you truly gone forever?

The views, the breakfast popovers, and you... National Park Service,

dedicated to conserving unimpaired natural and cultural resources,
