A Heavy Boson

Talk about tiny,

the weak nuclear force

is fundamental to our universe.

Teeny tiny Z

and W bosons are crucial

to our existence, but, there is an anomaly.

The standard model needs a new homily.

All four fundamental forces

colliding atoms on a wonderfully maddening chase,

nature is remarkably resistant to revealing her secrets.

A subatomic particle’s heft

has weighty consequences,

and W’s mass is higher than expected.

Send in the gravity…

this is heavy. seven-sigma,

this upends physics, 

changes our understanding of the universe!

What? Even the muon is behaving differently

in a magnetic field.  Is information a new form of matter?

Alas ATLAS, the tiniest mistake could be the undoing.

Think of the unsolved grand mysteries. 

What is the nature of dark matter? Oh, the decay.

The audacity

to destroy the standard model.

The universe is a big place made of small pieces,

from ghost neutrinos to quarks, subatomic particle insanity.  

For scale, an atomic nucleus is as small to a virus, 

as a virus is to us.
